HDR has an exciting new opportunity for a Resident Engineer to join our Construction Services team in NJ.

The Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Resident Engineer are:

Reporting to an HDR Project Executive or Sr. Project Manager, the Resident Engineer will be responsible to administer assigned construction contracts:

  • Manage a staff of construction inspectors, office engineers and administrative staff
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with the contract documents and code requirements
  • Ensure work is performed safely, on time and within budget
  • Coordinate work with facility operations and other stakeholders
  • Perform value engineering and constructability reviews
  • Review contractor's requests for additional compensation
  • Prepare change order documentation and negotiate fair and reasonable settlements
  • Chairs Project Progress meetings and distributes Meeting Minutes.
  • Prepare and update project schedules, and monthly progress, budget, and schedule management reports
  • Ensure contract payments reflect accurate quantities and are made in a timely manner
  • Ensure contracts are closed out in a timely manner and all required permits to occupy/use are obtained

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, Construction Science or closely related field
  • 5 years progressive experience on multi-disciplinary transportation related construction projects, for public agencies such as NJDOT, NJ Highway Authority and/or NJ Transit
  • New Jersey P.E. license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be computer literate, experience with construction management software packages and Microsoft Office, Prolog, Primavera, etc
  • Must have strong oral/written communication and people skills and the ability to interact with the design team and other stakeholders
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred:

  • 15 years experience strongly preferred
  • New York PE license

Typical starting pay range for this position in NY is $127,225.00 - $181,750.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
