As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be the design authority for engineering projects in PAPI Growth Industries Solutions, Process Automation Process Industries (PAPI) in Warminster, Pennsylvania, making technical recommendations and enhancing customer satisfaction by providing excellent service. You will provide hands on technical support role under the direction of an Engineering Manager and Project Manager to perform standard engineering practices, using engineering principles, on all phases of project execution.

Your responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will lead the design and engineering project activities needed to develop an integrated process and electrical control solution to meet customer requirements
  • This includes interpretation of control lists, customer drawings and schematics, P&IDs, electrical one lines and other customer specifications; aid in development of a complete controls package submittal including electrical design and sequence of operations; programming controller and HMI (Human Machine Interface) applications using various ABB and third party control/PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) systems
  • Using IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) 61131 programming languages, configuring associated HMI terminals; designing field communications with a variety of industry standard bus protocols; applying an understanding of Ethernet networked devices to design control related networks. This is all hands on work
  • Can work as part of a team or individually, will develop functional design specifications, support system test, installation, startup and commissioning of the integrated systems
  • Travel requirement is up to but likely no more than 10%
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, process, electrical or mechanical engineering required and minimum 7 years recent and direct experience required in: Controls and HMI hands on work, Configuring control Software and Hardware, Design experience in controls panels, BoM (Bill of material) and Submittal experience, Control programming, Data Center EPMS product and solution experience a must, Modbus communications, EE Tools experience, Experience in light and heavy industry control applications, Working knowledge of AC & DC Motors, Working Knowledge of DC Motor Digital SCR Drives, Working Knowledge of AC Motor Digital IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) Drives, General knowledge of Process Line Control principles, particularly as they relate to the steel industry
  • Experience with developing industrial processes in the chemical, metal, rubber, glass and material handling areas. Adaptable to working in new areas that could include, but not limited to, batteries, food/beverage and metal plating
  • Helpful experience (but not required): ABB 800xA, AC800M (Control Builder), AC500 (Automation Builder) and/or Allen Bradley SLC/PLC-5 (RSLogix 500), Control/CompactLogix (RSLogix 5000) programming,
  • Experience with GE DC2000, Experience with GE UC2000 controllers, Experience with ACS880 Drives, General knowledge of Position/Speed/Torque controls, Experience with GE/Emerson Series 90-70, 90-30, RX3i PLCs, Experience with GE Genius I/O and Versamax IO, Familiarity with industry standard communication protocols. (ModBus 485, TCP, Ethernet, ProfiNet, Profibus, etc, ABB Process Panel/CP600 and/or PanelView line HMI programming, System integration, automation and/or electrical controls design and engineering, Integration of 460VAC and/or 575VAC VFDs and other drive systems into control solutions, Site start up and troubleshooting, Electrical design and/or power distribution experience a definite plus
