As a Principle Project Manager for our PMO team, which supports several of ABB's Electrification Installation businesses, you will lead projects in our new product design and development of next generation products, from ideation/concept design to market launch, with full accountability of design, development, testing & validation, and new product introduction success.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead cross functional to meet project objectives.
  • Independently lead multiple projects and drive the projects to completion.
  • Manage large project schedules of new product introductions.
  • Lead in project charter creation, scope definition, commercialization of products, requirements development, risk management, schedule development, communications planning for assigned projects throughout the organizations.
  • Plan, track, and communicate the project breakdown of costs and benefits within your project vs the committed plans.
  • Build strong relationships with project sponsors.
  • Encourage cross-functional ownership of project goals and commitments.
  • Partner with US/LATAM PMO Director in the development of a company standard for project, program, and project portfolio management processes.
  • Assess projects' cross-functional resource requirements and proactively engage sponsors and functional leaders to fill resource gaps on a timely basis to ensure project success.
  • Manage NPD project deliverables, risks and timing; utilize critical path management methodologies to manage schedule, scope and resource requirements.
  • Create prompt communication and reports of program status to all stakeholders.
  • Present to executive level stakeholders in project reviews and gate reviews.
  • Lead problem solving initiatives and process change initiatives within PMO.
  • Build relationships with stakeholder to become a trusted adviser within the organization for assigned projects.
Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Technical Field of Study
  • 8 years of project experience with a leadership role within project teams
  • 5+ years of experience leading & managing in a New Product Development environment desired.
  • Total of 15 years professional experience
  • Leading projects in both software products and more traditional manufacturing-based product launches is preferred but not required
  • More traditional manufacturing-based product launches is required.
  • Scope of experience or education should be in at least one of the following disciplines: Project Management, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Product management.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of protecting the project triangle agreement with sponsors (Resources, Scope, and Duration) for new product or enterprise processes.
  • Experience in leading projects from Commercialization to Manufacturing Launch and ensuring fulfillment of business case.
  • Candidate will need a high level of proficiency in Stage Gate processes, Agile framework, use of project planning tools (ex. MS Project), resource/ manpower planning and financial acumen.
  • Six Sigma Certification or Six Sigma working Knowledge with Six Sigma Green Belt or Six Sigma Black belt preferred
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) is highly desired.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with smart brevity and courage to leadership and with collaborative spirit to peers.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach team members while leading by leveraging emotional intelligence and strong influencing skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
