Job Summary (Primary function)

Incyte's Discovery Chemistry Department is seeking an analytical chemist to provide LC/MS analyses and purification of small molecule compounds in support of drug discovery and development programs. He/She will join an analytical team providing methods for the separation, identification, and stability of key compounds in a fast paced and dynamic research environment.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)

* Independently conduct various separations and/or mass spectrometry experiments and analyze/interpret data to provide insights.

* Apply chiral and achiral chromatography methods and purification capabilities to accelerate Incyte small molecule discovery research using HPLC and SFC instrumentation as necessary.

* Responsible for the daily maintenance, validation, and routine monitoring of instrumentation within the assigned area(s) of support.

* Work with vendors as needed to implement new instrumentation and maintain the continual operation of instruments.

* Serve as a technical expert for all aspects of work within assigned area(s) of support.

* Participate in the development or continuous improvement process for assigned area(s) of support.

* Collaborate with other analytical functions as needed to resolve complex issues.

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)

* An MS degree in Chemistry or related discipline with four or more years of industry experience in chromatography or a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related discipline with a minimum of ten years of industry experience using routine and advanced chromatography methods to characterize and purify synthetic medicinal small molecule compounds is preferred.

* Experience in advanced separations mass spectrometry techniques and instrumentation (LC-MS, SFC, and SFC-MS).

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

* Experience with Waters (MassLynx) and Agilent (OpenLab) instrumentation is preferred.

* Skilled at handling and accurate preparation of samples for analysis.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced research environment.
