Job Summary:

Under the direction and guidance of the Yard Operations Supervisor, the Intern - Yard Operations will receive on-the-job training to learn and develop in all yard activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Inventory Control Technician's in verifying equipment arriving and/or departing yard and documenting activities.
  • Photograph incoming and/or outgoing machines and Upload pictures as requested.
  • Fuel equipment as required and document through the shipping and receiving function.
  • Conduct inventory counts of machines and work tools as required.
  • Assist wash rack personnel in washing and cleaning equipment.
  • Ensure outdoor work areas are clean and present a safe, inviting environment.
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.
  • Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Basic math calculations and the ability to read, write, and understand work instructions.

Education and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a high school diploma, advanced degree or equivalent.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Travel:

  • No travel is expected for this position.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position involves extended periods in the upright position.
  • This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.


Work Environment:

  • Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts.
  • May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
  • Noise level may be loud at times.
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
  • Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places.
  • Frequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
